Our practitioners provide Chiropractic, Massage & Rehabilitation Services for all your health concerns.
Our Chiropractors have decades of experience in taking care of all your body’s needs. We don’t just work on your spine & neck. We also treat elbows, knees, hips, ankles, feet, wrists, jaws & even your fingers & toes! You see all of these joints are made up of similar delicate structures as your spine and sometimes they all need a little bit of T.L.C. to get back on track, working properly and pain free!
While it’s true that most people come see us for back pain, neck pain and headaches. Most patients are amazed by the fact that we also service the other bio-mechanical joints of the body.
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the treatment of the joints, muscles, ligaments & tendons of the body. We have many years of university training to fully understand the biology, physiology & chemistry of the human body. This intensive training means we are experts at analyzing & diagnosing what’s going on with our patient’s & thus we can tailor the appropriate treatment to get you back on track.
Does Chiropractic hurt?
No not at all! Chiropractic can be performed very gently and is no more uncomfortable than a massage. Of course sometimes the body can be sensitive, especially if it’s in pain & in these times we always do our upmost to make sure the patient’s comfort is our absolute priority.
My Dr/Friend/Physio/Hairdresser said Chiropractic isn’t safe & can hurt you?
Unfortunately this is a very old stigma that is outdated & prehistoric. For the last 30 years Chiropractors have been university trained, holding Science Degrees and Masters of health care. They are registered health practitioners who are governed by the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency, the same board as your GP. This agency regulates the safety & effectiveness of all health practitioners in Australia. They are also registered with Medicare & Private Health Funds. All of these registrations would not be allowed if Chiropractic wasn’t safe or effective so there is no need to worry or be concerned.
My Dr/Friend/Physio/Hairdresser said they tried Chiropractic & it doesn’t work?
Of course Chiropractic can’t fix everything. Our practitioners are experts in diagnosis & if we determine that your condition is not something we can help you with, we will always refer you to the appropriate Medical Practitioner. Our priority is getting you better, not having unhappy patients that don’t get better.
Unfortunately not all Chiropractors are the same & just because one Chiropractor couldn’t help you doesn’t mean we can’t. Chiropractic is a skill and like all skills you will always get people with varied skill levels. We have many years experience and many techniques to find the one perfect for you to ensure you get the best care possible.
Chiropractic care involves adjusting and realigning the spine and other joints to remove pressure and interference from the nerves. Nerves are your body’s communication system connecting the brain to every cell and tissue in your body, so is vital that we keep them free of interference if we want to be healthy.
By keeping a clear connection between the brain and body we are able to regulate and coordinate all the functions of the body and express our natural life force.
Chiropractors in Australia study at university for 5 years to obtain a Masters degree in Chiropractic and are also required to complete ongoing study and education.
Applied Kinesiology™ (AK) is a unique health care system because it recognises that appropriate body mechanics, biochemistry and emotional health are fundamental to optimal health.
Your nervous system monitors and coordinates all your body interactions. On that basis, the Applied Kinesiology™ practitioner uses muscle testing to assess your nervous system function and find a solution to your health concerns.
In Australia, Applied Kinesiology™ is trademarked so the Australian public can identify accredited practitioners who are holistic primary health care professionals highly skilled in the assessment and application of structural correction, nutrition, cranio-sacral therapy, meridian therapy, visceral (organ) therapy, immune system function, Retained Neonatal Reflexes® and many other health aspects.
In 1964 George J. Goodheart Jr., D.C. discovered that muscle weakness (rather than excessive tightness) is frequently central to postural distortions. He also developed new ways of restoring appropriate muscle tone thus correcting the posture. Since then the founding principles have been expanded enormously so muscle testing is used to evaluate more of the health picture.
Total Body Modification
T.B.M. has grown out of acupuncture, naturopathy, radionics and, most of all, chiropractic and has been taught throughout the world, largely to chiropractors, since 1978. The principal founder and developer of TBM, Victor L. Frank, D.C., N.M.D., passed away in 2010 and handed the reins over to Dr Kevin Millet a few months before then.
TBM is member of the Applied Kinesiology (AK) family. Dr. Frank was a close associate of George Goodhart, D.C., the father of AK, in AK’s earliest years. Dr. Frank, however, felt AK was becoming overly complex, time-consuming and laborious. As he would often put it, “AK is too much like work!” In the early 1970’s, Robert Riddler, D.C., another early associate of Dr. Goodhart, was developing Body Points to simplify the AK evaluation. He borrowed from chiropractic’s Meric system to systematize corrections for the dysfunctions found through Body Point analysis. Dr. Frank began utilizing Dr. Riddler’s technique with his patients and was pleased with many of the results, but found them to not always be consistent, and again a bit too laborious. He, and his colleague Harold Havlic, D.C., began to innovate and TBM was born.
Along with further pioneering of Body Points, Dr. Frank introduced the use of test vials. He had a background in radionics and began using a radionics machine to charge small ampoules of water with the electromagnetic signature of allergens, pathogens, and toxins. He would then place the vial upon the sternum of his patients and perform an AK muscle test. He interpreted a weakness to indicate a functional deficiency related to the particular substance he had charged into the vial. The TBM system of Harmonization was developed as a means to resolve that functional deficiency. TBM Harmonization allows us to quickly assess our patients for sensitivities to foods, environmental substances and body tissue, as well as the ability to eliminate toxins and address infections. Once a dysfunction is determined, correction, or Harmonization, can usually be achieved rapidly through contacting and correcting the appropriate Body Point.
Dr. Frank also introduced the first AK-based emotional work at the inaugural ICAK meeting in 1973. He presented a technique he called Emotional Erase. Through this technique, we are able to quickly assess a patient’s toxic emotions and, by gentle rubbing upon specific locations and in specific directions on the forehead, “erase” the toxic emotions. The cycle of emotionally-based illness becomes free to unravel and sound emotional responses to life’s stressors restored.
The TBM system also includes additional acupressure, dietary, nutritional and lifestyle interventions. TBM care begins with an 18 week program that we call the Autonomic Recovery Program. The aim is to restore healthy global and function-specific autonomic regulation. This includes, most importantly, restoring healthy blood sugar management.
T.B.M. practitioners successfully work with all manner of chronic and advanced cases including arthritic, auto-immune, mood and cognitive, endocrine, immune, stress-related, sleep and digestive disorders with relative ease. While nutrition, herbs, acupuncture, chiropractic and homeopathy can often be very effective with such cases on their own, TBM builds upon that by adding a “bio-computer” component that often produces immediate and dramatic results.
We have a fully qualified Remedial Massage Therapist on staff who is an expert at soothing sore and tight muscles. As well as relaxing and releasing tension from the muscles, massage also increases blood and lymph flow. This allows for better detoxification and removal of metabolic wastes such as lactic acid.
Massage therapy is also an excellent form of stress relief and our resident therapist Bernadette Harrison will have your muscles feeling amazing in no time.
Bernadette is proficient in various techniques such as Swedish, Therapeutic, Deep tissue, Relaxation and Lymphatic Drainage.
Her qualifications are also recognized by most health funds so you will qualify for a Health Fund Rebate.
Exercise and Rehabilitation Programs
We believe that a healthy body needs exercise and injury rehabilitation and we provide tailored rehabilitation exercise programs for injury recovery and we work closely with personal trainers to develop exercise programs and fitness training programs for our valued patients.
Custom made Orthotics
We are lucky enough to be the only supplier of Better Balance Orthotics in the state!
These Kinesiology based orthotics not only support your foot but they actually retrain it so your foot is activated and strong even when you’re not wearing them!
The best part is, they are SOOO comfortable!! They are nothing like any orthotic you have ever worn before!
Many people’s poor posture, as well as back pain, knee pain, neck pain and headaches are actually due to imbalances in their feet and the way that they walk.
We use a structural and muscle assessment to determine where the weaknesses are in the stabilization of the foot. this allows our provider to create the perfect custom made orthotic for you.
Our orthotics are dynamic and soft, which makes them much more comfortable and the softness retrains the muscles in your feet so that your feet can rehabilitate themselves and will not start hurting again as soon as you are barefoot.
We can also give you a test with a generic pair in the clinic where you will feel the amazing strength changes in your legs immediately!
Dry needling is a form of complementary medicine that focuses on treating pain and movement impairments using fine needles targeted at trigger points. Trigger points are tender points in the skeletal muscle that can cause pain when squeezed or pressed.
The extremely small injuries created after the needle is being inserted into the skin may trigger a local healing process in the affected area. This results in an effective improvement of the body’s normal functioning through its own intrinsic and natural healing process. Dry needling can stimulate the neural pathways that block pain by creating a disruption on the pain messages sent to the nervous central system.
Dry needling is suitable for all individuals regardless of age. However, there are some people who are not recommended to get dry needling treatments:
- Pregnant women
- People who do not fully understand the treatment
- People with needle phobia
How Does Dry Needling Work?
Dry needling involves the insertion of sterile, disposable needles into the skin to eliminate trigger points. The needles that a dry needling practitioner uses vary according to the muscle group that they’re working on or to the patient’s preference. Needle sizes range roughly from 30 to 60 millimetre, but most practitioners use the former.
A qualified dry needling practitioner is an expert at palpation and can identify a trigger point when they feel one. Trigger points are often compared to pinheads as they have the same size. Once the practitioner feels the trigger point, they hold it between their fingers and insert the needle into the skin. It goes about 4mm above the trigger point and is left there for a few seconds to restore homeostasis to the body.
What Are the Benefits of Dry Needling?
Dry needling can effectively treat muscle pain rooted in the connective tissue, or fascia, and improve blood flow in the affected area. It addresses a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions such as the following:
- Acute and chronic tendonitis
- Headaches and migraines
- Postsurgical pain
- Repetitive motion disorders
- Chronic pain problems
- Back pain
- Sports and dance-related injuries
- Post-traumatic injuries, automobile accidents, and work-related injuries
- Night cramps
Vitamin Advice & Supply
We supply a large range of High Quality Practitioner Only vitamins and supplements for all of your nutritional needs.
Do natural vitamins work?
Most people don’t realize that the pharmaceuticals that your Dr prescribes are actually synthetic copies of natural substances. You see the pharmaceutical companies are not allowed to patent natural substances therefore they make a synthetic variation in the laboratory so that they can acquire patenting and have the sole license to sell the product, maximizing their profits & the return on the investment of research in the first place. Most of the time there are natural forms of these substances that can work just as efficiently and often without all the side effects.
